Group and Individual Learning

We are proud to introduce our new initiative that has never been done before! Group and Individual Learning Sessions.

Our aim is to foster an environment, where students can learn from other peers and professionals in our field. Friendly workshops with lecture notes provided, held in actual lecture theatres whereby up-to-date and relevant learning will be provided catered to each year group for BDS and BOH students.

This will be an incredibly useful adjunct to the dental curriculum run throughout the year with almost on average a workshop or two on a university week basis. It’s a heavy workload on our part, but we understand that what is taught can at times be challenging and demanding upon students, thus our purpose is to ensure a smoother journey.

Very encouraging and positive feedback was given when we demonstrated a few trial runs from BDS 1-4, and students had benefited hugely. Thus, we have extended this initiative to all curricula and we deem this will be a successful initiative.

Group and Individual Learning Series in Semester 1B:

Foundation Biology - April 27th 4pm ADH 1

This combined BDS/BOH session will discuss some of the fundamental biological concepts necessary for the first year course. Highly recommended if you haven't done year 12 biology. Mustafa will be the main presenter.

Tooth ID - May 4th 4pm ADH 1

Two weeks before your first year tooth ID quiz, we will be holding a combined BOH/BDS review workshop on Tooth ID.

We will plan the first half as a casual tutorial and then later in the session we can run a mock circuit (like you will have in week 10).

Genetics for Dentistry - May 26th 4:30pm ADH 1

We'll be throwing a neat run down of this topic tailored to what dental students should ideally know. In the past, many have found it difficult.

Currently the genetics portion of the course is covered in second year but first year are also welcome to attend.

BDS 1 Exam Revision - June 3rd 4:30pm ADH 1

The AUDSS will be presenting an exam revision lecture for BDS1. We highly recommend students submit topics that you would like covered beforehand so that the session is relevant and focussed.
